"Invalid JSON: Unexpected token o in JSON at position 1" in Stoplight Studio example

Whenever I write a json in example for request and response of an api endoint, I get an error saying - “Invalid JSON: Unexpected token o in JSON at position 1”

This is happening in both web as well as latest desktop (linux) version of stoplight.

Please find the screenshot below:

Due to this error I am not able to see the example json in read view.

Hey there,

Sorry for the inconvenience. Have you tried changing the name of the example from “example-1” to “JSON”?

I did, but I am getting the same error when I click outside of the example box.

Got it. Okay looks like its an issue specific to the linux desktop app. As a workaround while we fix this bug, you could use the web app at https://stoplight.io/p/studio if you like.

Unfortunately, the web app also has the same problem.

sorry to hear that! which browser were you running?

Chrome - Version 76.0.3809.132 (Official Build) (64-bit), in Ubuntu 19.04

@anidotnet Thanks for the help in narrowing this down. We’ve opened an issue here that you can use for tracking.

Thanks so much @ross.

I would just like to thread the I have experienced the same issue and after playing around with it (removing spaces) I have been able to avoid the “Invalid JSON” error but am still not able to render the actual Example in read view.
